What should I do to be a member of the Information Center?

A member of Kadir Has University is also a natural member of the Information Center with the identification card issued by the University.

I’ve lost the book I had borrowed, what should I do?

You can provide the same book or pay the price of that book if you’ve lost the book you had borrowed. You will be requested to pay a transaction fee in both cases.

The book I’ve borrowed is damaged, what should I do?

You can provide the same book or pay the price of that book if the book you’ve borrowed from the Information Center is damaged. You will be requested to pay a transaction fee in both cases.

The book I am looking for is borrowed by someone else, what should I do?

You can sign on the Information Center with your account credentials to reserve a book that is borrowed by someone else.  Please click here to view the guidance to reserve books.

How could I learn about the date the book I’ve borrowed needs to be returned?

You can sign on the Information Center with your account credentials and view and learn the return dates of the books recorded on your account on the tab.

I do not have my university id card with me, could I still borrow a book?

If you do not have your university id card with you, you may present your Turkish ID Card or show MYKhas account in order to borrow books.

I wish to extend the time to return for the book I’ve borrowed, what should I do?

You can sign on the Information Center with your account credentials and extend the time to return the book you’ve borrowed on the tab. If you have any question, please feel free to contact by sending us an e-mail message to [email protected] or calling us at 0212 533 57 50/ 1150. 

Is it possible to extend the time for the reserved books?

The time extension for the reserved sources may vary depending on the number of the copies thereof, the number of the students requiring them, and if it is the exam period. How to reserve the sources that are available on the collection of the Information Center?

Click the button “Reserve” on the book’s bibliographic record on the catalogue and then follow the instructions that will appear to reserve the same.

How will I be informed when the sources I had reserved are available on the Information Center?

You will be informed via an e-mail message when the sources you had reserved are available on the Information Center.

Is it possible to borrow a computer from the Information Center?

No! You are not allowed to borrow a computer from the Information Center. Please feel free to use the computers on MyLab when you need them.

Is it possible to borrow a dictionary from the Information Center?

You can borrow language and law dictionaries from the Loan Counter at the Information Center for 4 hours.

Where could I find a printed book for which I am looking in the Information Center?

The printed books available in the Information Center are available in alphabetical order with LC classification system in the Hall no. 2 and 3. You can find a printed book you are looking for on the respective shelves by learning the placement number thereof from the scanning computers on the front counter and the reference desk in the Hall no 2. Please ask for help from the librarian on the Reference desk or the counter if you could not find it.

The book I am looking for is not available on the shelves?

If the book you are looking for is not available on the shelves although it is not borrowed by someone else, then it may be on the interior shelves in the Hall no.2 or currently used by another user. Feel free to apply to the librarian on the Reference desk for your questions.

Is it possible for me to learn who had borrowed the book I am looking for?

No. The users’ details are not shared pursuant to the applicable provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law.

Is there a delay penalty for a book I borrow?

A delay penalty of TL 2 per day for those sources borrowed from the Book collection and a delay penalty of TL 1 for those sources borrowed from the Reserved collection will apply.  

How many books could I borrow from the Information Center?

You can borrow an unlimited number of sources from the Book Collection and 5 sources concurrently from the Reserved Collection in the Information Center.

Is it possible for me to download the e-books onto my computer?

Pursuant to the license agreements with the respective publishers or providers and as per the copyrights, you can download the entirety or certain sections of the electronic books in the format of PDF or EBUP.

How could I access the electronic resources from my home?

You can access the electronic sources of the Information Center from home using the Off Campus Access service. For detailed information, please click here

Can I ask for the purchase of a book not available on the collection of the Information Center?

Sign on the Information Center with your account credentials and complete the respective form on the module ‘Yayın İstek” to ask for the purchase of a source.

How long does it take to get a printed book which I wanted to be purchased in the Information Center?

It takes about 7-10 business days for a book purchased abroad and 4-6 weeks for a book purchased abroad.

Is it possible for me to work in the Information Center as an Active Scholarship Student?

The Information Center accepts Active Scholarship Students. You can view the respective application dates on MyKhas.

Is there a photocopier in the Information Center?

There is no photocopier available in the Information Center. Please feel free to use Hascopy in AmphitheatreGarden for your photocopy needs.

Is it possible for me to photocopy the entirety of this book?

You are not allowed to photocopy more than 10% of a book for the protection of the respective copyrights.

The article I am looking for is not available in the Information Center, what should I do?

For those articles and theses not available in our collection, please consider the Inter Library Loan (ILL) method on the Inter Library Cooperation Tracking System (KITS) or the Turkey Document Provision System (TUBESS). Sign on the Information Center with your account credentials to submit your requests completing the Inter Library Loan Form.

The book I am looking for is not available in the collections at the Information Center, what should I do?

KHAS members may request for the purchase of a publication not available on the collections of the Information Center in connection with their education-training and research activities. Before submitting a request, please check from the Online Catalogue to make sure that the source you are looking for is not available in the collections of the Information Center. You can submit your requests completing apublication request form on your account with the Information Center.

What are the operating hours of the Information Center?

The Information Center are open from 08.30 to 22.00 on weekdays and from 10:00 to 20:00 on weekends. 1. The hall is open all the time and all the halls are open at 24/7 during the exam periods. For the current operating hours please click here.

Is it possible for me to make use of the Information Center as a graduate?

How could I connect to the Information Center through Internet?

At the Information Center, the students are able to connect to the Internet over the KHAS-Student network using the student number and unique password, and the non-student users over the KHAS-Guest network using the cod sent to their phones. 

I am not a member of the University, could I still make use of the Information Center?

An academic person from another university, upon the presentation of their valid university id cards, and a master’s degree/doctoral student of another university, upon the booking at least two business days beforehand, are allowed make use of the Information Center on site once a month during the operating hours on weekdays (08:30 – 22:00). I wish to donate books to the Information Center, what should I do?

The Information Center accepts donations of books. The sources granted and gifted to the Information Center (books, magazines, DVDs etc.) are assessed and accepted pursuant to the Collection Development Policy. Those books donated are accepted if they are not already available in the collections. If a donated book is already available in the library, then it is sent to those libraries in need of that book.

I left my belongings in the Information Center, what should I do?

Please apply to the Loan Counter and Block A security for your belongings left in the Information Center.
