This is a collection consisting of printed/electronic sources (books, DVDs etc.) available on the syllabus. The Course Reserve is also called as Student Reserve and Short Loan Collection.
• It is the responsibility of the respective lecturer and academicians in charge for the respective course to request for the inclusion of a source into the Course Reserve Collection.
• The respective lecturer may request for the inclusion of the personal copies into the course reserve collection.
• To ensure timely availability of resources, requests for the “Course Reserve Collection” must be submitted to ic.reserve@khas.edu.tr at least eight weeks before the start of the academic term.
• In order to ensure that the sources are made available in due time, it is necessary to submit a request for the inclusion of a source to the “Course Reserve Collection” at least eight weeks before the commencement of the respective academic period to the following e-mail address: ic.reserve@khas.edu.tr.
• The Information Center supports the respective Lecturer who submits a request while determining the sources to be made available on the syllabus.
• It is a principle that the source is a main/auxiliary source and the student quota is considered while determining the number of copies of the sources to be included to the Course Reserve Collection.
• One copy for every 20 students enrolled in the respective course is considered while determining the number of printed/electronic copies of the main course sources.
• The number of the copies of the sources that are on the syllabus for more than one course is based on the student quota for the said courses.
• Only the lecturer of the course and the students enrolled in the course are allowed to borrow the printed sources available on the Course Reserve Collection.
• The time to keep a Printed Course Reserve source on loan may be 4 hours or one night or 1, 3 or 7 days considering the number of the students enrolled in the course and the number of copies of the said source.
• A source of information borrowed may recalled before the return date in order to be added to the Course Reserve Collection. A source recalled before the commencement of the courses needs to be returned within 7 days and, a source recalled after the commencement of the courses needs to be returned within 3 days. A “Delay Penalty” will be imposed for the sources not returned in the specified period of time after being recalled.
• An “hourly/daily delay penalty” will be imposed for the sources borrowed from the reserve collection but not returned in the specified period of time.
• The sources are removed from the Course Reserve Collection at the end of the Academic Period. Therefore, the lecturers are required to submit another request for the course reserve collections for each semester.
• The applicable Provisions of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works imposes certain limitations on the transfer of the sources on the syllabuses (books, articles etc.) to the digital environment without the written permission of the author, the reproduction thereof by means of photocopy, and the sales thereof in the form of course material selections/reading packages.
• There are routine audits and assessments conducted by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) and the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) to identify whether the main and auxiliary sources on the syllabuses have the equivalent in the library collections. It is critical that the syllabuses are transmitted to the Information Center in order to avoid any possible problem with the auditing processes.
